Master of Fine Arts, First Class Honours, Massey University. Final research and exegesis: The Thin Veneer. Through my creative research I investigated notions of what constitutes real when it is subverted by a pixelated permeable boundary, the hyper real, where the physical and virtual touch. Final exhibiton art installation utilising film, sound and projection mapping, a colliding virtuality, by calibrating the notions of materiality and the immaterial , the observer on the threshold of a liminal blurred state between the two.

BFA with Honours in Fine Arts, Massey University. Final research and thesis: The Post Digital Artefact-forming the unformable. Final exhibition art installation utilizing object, sound and projection mapping, representing a 3D monolithic ocean sculpture in a compressed moment of time.

Senior Texture Artist. Creating Creature, Plant and Enviroment textures for James Camerons Avatar. Position involves creating both procedural and hand painted texture maps, involving a close collaboration with the Art Director and Shader Writers. Platforms, Lintux, Irix, Windows. Software, Maya, Photoshop, Mari, Studio Piant, Body Paint, Shake. In house shading tools.

2004-2006>

ANIMAL LOGIC

Senior 3D Surface Artist and Matte Painter for enviroments on George Millers Happy Feet, a photorealistic CG animated feature film. In addition to traditional 2D texture painting, this position has required the use of in-house tools and shaders to achieve the film’s photorealistic style. This includes procedural textures, subsurface scattering and ambient occlusion. Software used: Maya, Photoshop, Dark Tree, Renderman. The matte painting involved projecting 2D elements onto 3D geometry using in-house tools.
